Your Host

Anjeanette LeMay-Crowtz has played and adventured in boats for more than 35 years. She has qualifications to offer several outdoors and paddling courses, which she has taught across Canada.  She loves to watch paddlers get the hang of the key strokes to go confidently on their own. The canoe is the vehicle of Canada’s history, and Anjeanette enjoys sharing the local stories of the people and how they lived and traveled in the area.

Here are a few of her paddling experiences:

1999: Led a 48-day canoe trip on the Mackenzie River from Wrigley to Tuktoyaktuk NWT.

2004: She was part of a 4-woman Canadian Geographic Explorer supported trip in 2004: 52 days unsupported on the Dubawnt River system from Black Lake Saskatchewan to Baker Lake Nunavut.

2017:  Yukon River Quest Tandem Canoe Women’s champ.  It’s the longest canoe race in the world, and she credits her paddling partner, moose jerky, and peanut m&m’s for that one.

What you’ll experience

An outdoor adventure on the beautiful freshwater lakes of Annapolis County. The day will be tailored to your experience and interest: attentive instruction in technique to have you paddling with control of your boat, or a longer adventure around the lakes and trails.

What’s included
  • Canoes (2 passengers per canoe)
  • All canoeing and safety equipment is included. (Paddles, Life Jackets, Etc.)
  • A small dry bag to hold your personal items for the day (which should include an extra layer/ rain jacket…our Nova Scotia weather can be changeable!).
Things to Note
  • Canoeing is a water sport, and you should expect to get wet feet while entering and exiting the boat, and from the occasional splash.
  • A capsize is certainly always possible, though Anjeanette will guide you in how to avoid one (unless you want to learn rescues, in which case we’ll tip the canoe on purpose…which isn’t always easy to do!)
